Jake Patterson or Yung Jake as he is known on the internet has gone viral with his Emoji Portraits that use thousands of layered emojis to create a digital portraits of celebrities. Yung Jake has also created videos, music and other digital art.

“I like [to] use famous and popular things in my work because it gives people something to relate to, course I have a personal relationship with sonic [the Hedgehog] or friends [the TV show] but it's obviously not the same as someone else's. i think with art u create your own story as to why the artist did what they did but u don't have to be right in order for the work to be good"

Connection to Classroom 

Yung Jake's art directly represents the new world of digital and internet art that comes with a new generation. Not only is his work fun but its relatable to children. Students can try making their own collages out of emojis with printed cut outs or using Apps on devices if accessible.
